Make a sign for your hotel door. Bring pictures of your greyhounds and use our materials. You can also laminate your artwork. Donations for supplies requested.

Gatlinburg Trailhead (near Traffic Light 10)

Carpool if you can, there is parking at Traffic Light 10 for $5 and there is also parking on River Road beside the trail entrance. The Gatlinburg Trail Head is one of the nature trails in Gatlinburg area that allows pets. There is a nice sandy area for pups to take a dip in the stream.

The Roobucks General Store will be open. Come shop and stay for a visit. Purchase your raffle tickets and place them in the raffle bags. This is also a great meeting area. Tables will be out and Wi-Fi is available along with refreshments.

Pizza from Pizza Hut will begin arriving at 6:30 and we will stop serving at 7:30. Tickets were pre-sold and will be in your registration packet. If you did not pre-purchase a ticket inquire about buying a ticket when you check-in. Bring your Greyhound and join us for dinner Thursday night.

Come join us for Greyhound BINGO and the much talked about TREASURE BALL GAME. Small fee for the treasure ball game, BINGO as always is free. Due to its popularity we will have Bingo on Thursday and Friday night. Space is limited, so if you’re Greyhound is tired from their day of fun, let them take a nap in the room. However if you are bringing a dog, please bring a dog bed for their comfort. For those who wonder WHY we call it Surprize Bingo it’s because you don’t know what your Prize will be.

We will leave the hotel at 8:00 and head down the hill toward town. Turn right at Traffic Light #8. There is a map in the Event Book to show the route through town. Let’s strut our stuff through downtown Gatlinburg. Don’t forget your Kilwyn’s ice cream coupon.

If you get to the bottom of the hill and your senior dog says never mind, we will have a van behind Bubba Gump’s for a quick trip back to the hotel.

We will have Vans to pick up people and hounds for a ride back to the hotel. Enter the Village Shops courtyard from the main road and head back to the left of the courtyard and exit out the back onto Orchard Rd. This is where the vans will be; just look for the greyhound decals to know which van.

If you decide to walk back to the hotel, please head back up the same way you came down. The back way up Orchard Road is NOT a good road for walking with dogs. The sidewalk is VERY close to the road and there is very little lighting.

Beside The Owl’s Nest cabin on the way to park

We need all Senior Dogs 10 years and up to join us for group photos. Look for the signs and line up by age so we have a group photo for each group. After the photos we will crown the King & Queen and get a photo of these special hounds.

Event check-in. If table is not staffed look for a volunteer wearing a lime green colored volunteer name tag to assist you.

Park Activities

Mynatt Park

Water and soda will be available at the park. Coolers will be located near the registration table. Water and soda are free however donations are welcome to cover our cost.

We will have pools for the dogs to play in and water bowls around the pavilion. Look for the misting tent for a cool refreshing spray. We do have a large group of Greyhounds so if you see an empty bowl please help refill. Bathrooms are located in the pavilion. Bring a dog bed and a chair for you.

Games for humans – take your chance tossing some pooh. It’s not an event if we don’t toss around some (fake) poo. Come play Pik-Pak-Poo, Pooh-in-the-Shoe & Pooh-Hoop. Have some fun and win prizes! You can’t win if you don’t play!

And another rousing Greyhound Treasure Ball game will be played at the park. Pay the price and roll the dice.

9:30am – 11:00am

Mynatt Park Ballfield

Come see how fast your Greyhound can run. Dogs will be timed on their run and you will be given a speeding citation showing their speed. Saturday night we will announce the fastest Greyhound, slowest Greyhound and fastest non-grey.

For safety, the ballfield will be closed to off-leash dogs during the Hustle.

Pre-ordered bag lunches from Steak Delivery & More. Please have your lunch ticket with you. Put your ticket in your name badge for safekeeping. Please get a free soda or water from our coolers it is included with your lunch.

Debbie Calfa will share her experience with Galgos and the great work that her group does to meet their goal to promote the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of the Spanish Galgo and the Podenco. Debbie will also cover their fostering program and what you can do to help.

Rory Goreé will share what he’s learned during his various roles working with Greyhounds and provide tips for a safe transition to home life.

In ‘How to Know When to Extract,’ Dr. Queck reviews a variety of different tooth abnormalities and the options for treatment besides extraction. Discolored teeth, fractured teeth, mobile teeth, teeth with enamel defects, malpositioned teeth, and periodontally diseased teeth will be discussed. Procedures to be reviewed are: Root canal therapy, orthodontics, crowns, and restorations are some of the therapies discussed.

A graduate of Iowa State University, Dr. Queck has performed advanced dental procedures on pets since 1986. In 1993, she became a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry of which there are less than 100 members worldwide.

Rev. Susan Scott-Downs will facilitate a service to remember the animals we have lost.  If you would like to say a few words the forum will be open to share.  Or if you just want to listen and remember your pet quietly please join us. If you have a picture we will display the photos in the lobby of the hotel where you can pick them up on Sunday.

Cookout Dinner

Tickets were pre-sold for the cookout. The Gatlinburg Rotary Club will be serving dinner beginning at 6:00. Proceeds from the cookout benefit the Rotary Club.

Blessing of the Hounds

Rev. Susan Scott-Downs will say a group blessing for all our dogs. She is also available for an individual blessing and chat with your dog. We will have two sessions with Rev. Susan. The second session will be Saturday evening. Individual sessions end at 8:00pm.

Mynatt Park Basketball Courts

Our volunteer judges will be looking for originality, craftiness and the dog’s enjoyment with wearing the costume and being the center of attention. Judges will select winners for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Best Individual and for Best Group. Individual entries should start getting ready by 6:45pm so we can start at 7:00pm. Group entries should be ready to begin at 7:20pm.

In “Periodontal Disease,” Dr. Queck will go in-depth into the most common disease of greyhounds, discuss the causes, the treatment, and prevention. Home care options will also be reviewed and discussed.

Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine utilizes medical theories and practices that have developed in China over the last 3000 years. These include nutritional and herbal therapies, Acupuncture, massage, and a form of moving meditation. All of these modalities can be used in conjunction with modern western medicine to improve our pets’ health and comfort. In this talk we will discuss how they can be used specifically at the end of life. We will cover techniques that you can use on your own and ways in which a trained traditional Chinese Veterinary medicine practitioner can become an invaluable part of your pet’s journey.

We can accept cash, check or credit card for payment. Items not picked up by 4:00pm will be moved to the Roobucks General Store. Please pay and pick up your items before you leave the event on Sunday. We can not ship items after the event.

Come to the Roobucks General Store to see if you are a winner! Drawing will start at 5:00pm. Exciting times as the raffle winners are drawn.

You do not have to be present to win the Bag Raffle. Winners will be listed and posted on the door and the room will be open on Saturday 9:00pm-5:00pm and again on Sunday from 7:00am until 11 to claim your prize.

Don’t worry if you don’t win anything in the Bag Raffle. You have a 2nd Chance Saturday at the Social. We have a 2nd Chance Raffle drawing at the Social on Saturday. For the 2nd Chance raffle drawing you must be present to win. All tickets from the Bag Raffle will be entered into the 2nd Chance Raffle drawing.

Group photo will be taken on the hill beside the pavilion. Gather between the orange flags and SMILE. If you would like a picture of your individual groups after the main photo, just let the photographer know.

  • Room Raffle drawing – will you be the lucky one to have your weekend hotel stay for free? Prize courtesy of the Sidney James Mountain Lodge. You do not need to be present to win.

Mynatt Park Cleanup

If you are leaving later in the day and can assist with park cleanup please join us at Mynatt Park. We will provide poop bags and will walk the ball field and the park to pick up any missed poop or trash. We want to make sure the park is left nice for those visiting after us.

The ballfield fencing will be removed first thing Sunday morning. Do not use the field Sunday morning without first checking the fence.
