Off Leash Dog Potty Area

Grass by Cabin and End of Courtside

There is a fenced area by the Owls Nest cabin. There is also a fenced area at the left end of the Courtside rooms. Please pick up your dog’s poop and keep these areas clean for all the dogs.

If your dog has loose stool there is sand available to cover what you can’t pick up. We also have a scoop for sale in the store that you can use to catch the poop or use a newspaper or paper plate. Makes it much easier!

Rock Painting

Let your creative side flow and paint a rock or two. No worries if you are not creative, we can walk you through it. You can hide your rock for someone to find or take it home as a souvenir.  Requesting $5 to cover supplies. Paint as many rocks as you want!

Downtown Gatlinburg (Traffic Light 10)

Carpool if you can, there is parking at Traffic Light 10 for a fee and there are a few spots on River Rd by the trail head. The Gatlinburg Trail Head is one of the nature trails in Gatlinburg area that allows pets. There is a nice sandy area for them to take a dip in the stream.

Thursday Pizza Buffet

Pizza arrive about 6:00 and we will stop serving at 7:00. Tickets were pre-sold, check your registration packet. Bring your Greyhound and join us for dinner Thursday night.

Event tent is 1 block toward town and turn right on McCarter Rd (across the street from the Hampton Inn next door) you will see the tent down on the left. This is within walking distance; it is across the street from previous event tent.

Please Note: This year we will NOT have vans available to give you a ride back up the hill.

If you would like to parade your pups through town meet outside the hotel at 8:00 and head down the hill toward town. Turn right at Traffic Light #8.

When walking back to the hotel, please head back up the same way you came down. The back way up Orchard Road (Traffic Light 6) is NOT a good road for walking with dogs. The sidewalk is VERY close to the road and there is very little lighting.

We need all Senior Dogs age 10 years and up to join us for group photos. We will start with Dogs age 10 yrs. for the first photo and then 11 yrs., 12 yrs., etc. ending with the King and Queen.

If check-in table is not staffed look for a volunteer wearing a lime green colored volunteer name tag to assist you.

Morning Activities

Water and soda will be available. Look for the portable coolers. Water and soda are free however donations are welcome to cover our cost. Pupcups available for the dogs.

We will have pools for the dogs to play in and water bowls around the tent. Look for the misting tent for a cool refreshing spray. We do have a large group of Greyhounds so if you see an empty bowl please help refill. Bring a dog bed with you.

Seminar – Vet Discussion with Dr Mauricio Amat, DVM

Sidney James Conference Room

Dr. Amat graduated from Wake Forest University in NC and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from North Carolina State where he focused on companion animal surgery. His areas of interest within veterinary medicine are general surgery (soft tissue and surgical oncology) and orthopedic surgery.  Dr Amat will have time at the end of his discussion for Q & A.

Does your greyhound’s race name start with Mac’s? Then you have a Mac Dog. Patrick Mcmillon and his wife Millie will be at the event and would love to see all their retired racers! The McMillon farm is located near Cross Lanes WV and he has raised quite a number of Grade A racers. Drop by for your pup to say hello.

Tickets were pre-sold for the cookout. The Gatlinburg Rotary Club will be serving dinner beginning at 6:00. Proceeds from the cookout benefit the Rotary Club.

Our volunteer judges will be looking for Originality, Craftiness, and the dog’s enjoyment with wearing the costume and being the center of attention.

Judges will select winners for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Best Individual and for Best Group.

Individual entries should start getting ready by 6:45, we will start at 7pm. Group entries be ready to begin at 7:20pm

Debbie will share her experience with Galgos and the great work that her group does to meet their goal to promote the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of the Spanish Galgo and the Podenco. Debbie will also cover their fostering program and what you can do to help.

$5.00 for 2 people to play to 11 points. Winner gets 2 raffle tickets; lowest score gets 1 raffle ticket.

Don’t want to play? You can still buy a ticket to try and win the CASH prize. Tickets are 1 for $5, 3 for $10 and 10 for $20. Play as often as you want. Cash pot to be split with GFNC and ONE Grand Prize winner.

Don’t worry if you don’t win anything in the Bag Raffle. You have a 2nd Chance Saturday at the Social. All tickets from the Bag Raffle will be entered into the 2nd Chance Raffle drawing. You must be present for the 2nd Chance raffle.

If you are leaving later in the day and can assist with cleanup, please join us at the Event tent. We will provide poop bags and will walk the field to pick up any missed poop or trash. We want to make sure the field is left nice for the family that is letting us use it.
