Hounds on Parade is a great opportunity to walk through the bustling town of Gatlinburg. Bring a `donation coat’ for your hound and raise funds for your favorite Greyhound charity. Don’t forget to deck them out in special collars and bling to really stand out in the crowd. The residents, shopkeepers, and tourists always enjoy the sight of our Greys. Be ready for some serious meeting and greeting on this walk!
As in years past, the van will pick up walkers on the backside of the Village Shoppes. Don’t forget to take your Kilwin’s coupon for some cool, creamy ice cream at the end of the walk. Kilwin’s is located directly across the street from the Village Shoppes. The dogs always receive LOTS of attention and cool water at Kilwin’s too. It’s a great place to take a rest before hopping on the van for a quick ride up the hill.
Always keep a close watch on your hound during the walk. If loud noise and crowds frighten your grey or if walking is a problem for them due to age or an injury, let him/her stay behind. There are a lot of people and traffic in town and some hounds can be stressed by the action. The parade is greyt fun, but only if the greys enjoy it as well.
